Kelli Ann Kinney Was Born to Ride --
Just Ask Her Mom!
Kelli's Mom will be the first to tell
you...It was clear right from the outset that Kelli Ann Kinney was destined to be Super
Star rider. Since 1972, the Kinney family had owned and operated Jest-A-Bit Farm, a
standardbred racing stable. As a little girl, her Mom knew just where to find
Kelli. Down at the motorized walker. Any chance Kelli could get, she would
climb on the backs of the horses that were tied up the contraption to cool down
after one of her Father's training sessions.
As she started to ride on her
own, it wasn't long before
Kelli was galloping down the road to competition success. As a young girl, she was a member of
the Middlesex County 4-H and the Groton United States Pony Club. With those organizations she
competed successfully in Dressage, Combined Training and Hunter Jumpers.
With that much talent, it was important right
from the beginning that Kelli sought out top notch training. From 1980-1985 Kelli had the honor of
competing and riding as a senior student with Carol Lavell, one of the 1992 Summer Olympics bronze
medal dressage team winners in Barcelona.
Since 1985 Kelli has also trained as a senior student with Michael
Poulin. Michael, who is not only one of the founding fathers of dressage sport in America, he is
also a bronze medal winner in team dressage at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, together with
Robert Dover, Carol Lavell, and Charlotte Bredahl.

(through second level ) and several other Lower level horses.
Kelli felt that while she had a
broad range of horse training knowledge and experience on the "English" side of the saddle,
she wanted to know more. So she trained with Kenny Harlow’s natural horsemanship program
“Training with Trust “ to incorporate roundpenning and problem solving (trailer issues included) as
well as a new safer way to break young horses to prepare them for their owners.
In 2001, her exposure to Western style
training led her give "cowboy competition" a try. She entered into the new FEI sport of
reining where she now also competes nationally and teaches. Kelli
has competed throughout the east coast including the All American Quarter Horse Congress being
in the top
